About The Leadership

We’re About…

Living out the way of Jesus in missional communities, that announce the presence of God in our families, neighborhoods and the world by being people committed to honesty, hospitality and hope.

We Are:

…residents of Middle Tennessee who are committed to following a 1st century faith in a 21st century world.

…committed to loving and serving our world into following Jesus one neighborhood at a time.

…committed to reading and studying the scriptures from a 1st century perspective not to get “puffed up” with knowledge but to truly understand the teachings of Jesus so that we can walk as he would walk in the 21st century.  We believe that the scriptures tell a story of a God who is bringing people out of bondage to freedom in him and this theme has been expressed throughout the stories of the Old Testament, Jesus and the now through the church.

…committed to recognizing the creative spark in all people and know that it is part of how God is wired them to tell the world his story.

…are striving to live at a pace that is prescribed by scripture.  Our goal is to honor a sabbath with our families and to build our lives around a Godly pace that recognizes the importance of regular prayer and introspection.

…learning that God’s focus is his kingdom and the kingdom exists in the presence of the church and outside of those communities and institutions as well.  We hope to have open eyes, ears and hearts to see where God is working and join in.

What We Believe:

We believe that throughout human history God has been writing a story of hope and redemption for all the world, and we have a role to play in this story.

We believe the Bible to be the voices of many who have come before us, inspired by God to pass along their poems, stories, accounts, and letters of response and relationship with each other and the living God. These words have been used to describe God and his character for thousands of years, and we call this theology. Theology is one of the best ways we can come to know and love God; it is also how we understand who God calls us to be and what he calls us to do. Theology comes from the Greek words “theos” and “logos.” Theos means God, and logos means word – thus, words about God.
