Kiva - loans that change lives

Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime. Kiva borrowers already know how to fish. They just need a loan to buy a net. Helping the poor is a driving theme in Jesus work and is a way for our community to be Jesus and work together to help out across the globe. Lending through Kiva allows your money to go further than making a one-time donation. When your loan is repaid, you can withdraw the money or make another loan. The same funds can be loaned and re-loaned over and over again, so the impact grows over time without funding having to grow.

Blood:Water Mission is a grassroots organization that empowers communities to work together against the HIV/AIDS and water crisis. Since its launch, Blood:Water Mission has raised millions of dollars from individuals seeking to make a difference. We have partnered with more than 800 communities in Africa, providing life-saving water and health needs for over 500,000 people. The results of their efforts paint a new picture in these communities. Village leaders have the resources and training to bring clean water, sanitation and healthcare into their communities. Stomach aches, skin diseases and diarrhea have disappeared. Women and children no longer walk several miles a day to carry filthy water. Those with HIV are living longer, stronger lives.

The Affero Project is a grassroots online community of global justice advocates who join together to give small change every month and vote to decide where the money goes. It’s simple… You Give, You Vote, you decide. eople join The Affero Project with monthly donations (as little as $1 a month) and their gift is combined with thousands of others, creating a very large pool of funds. Each year we have 12 categories of funding representing a non-profit organization or NGO with project(s) around the world in each category. Every month community members join online to cast their vote on which category is to receive funding that month, voting weighted according to their monthly commitment.  Once a category wins, funds are released to the project(s), and that category will be grayed out until next year, allowing every category to receive their funding. Every month, the pool of funds grow as new donors join Affero.
